Feature: Parks in Our Communities

Parks are integral to any community, and the parks in our communities have seen some incredible upgrades in the last few years. Today, we wanted to feature these upgrades and say thank you to everyone involved with making these improvements possible.

                Circleville

The parks in Circleville have seen many great improvements this past summer. There’s still time to enjoy these amenities before the weather turns. Maybe you’ll even discover a new favorite park!

Ted Lewis Park has a brand-new restroom, new splash pad, and upgraded playground equipment. Further improvements, such as a new shelter house, are also in the works, so keep an eye out for developments!

Canal Park has recently extended the boardwalk along the towpath trail. The playground also now features slides, zip lines, a clatter bridge, and climbing nets!

Mary Virginia Crites Hannan Park has had a great playground and splash pad for the last several years, and last year they added a wheelchair accessible swing. Visitors to MVCHP can also enjoy exercise equipment, walking trails, and more.

                Lancaster

Lancaster, Ohio has many great parks and visitors can learn about each of these incredible facilities at LancasterParks.com. Recently, Miller Pool celebrated its 100th birthday, and the Parks and Recreation Department recently finished a campaign to collect bottle caps in order to create benches. They have been able to add several recycled benches in their parks thanks to the generosity of citizens!

Of course, one of our favorites in Lancaster is Rising Park—you can’t beat the views!

                Williamsport

While Williamsport only has one community park, it is certainly not lacking in amenities for those who visit.

A couple of years ago, Community Square Park in Williamsport saw some great improvements! As it stands the park features a shelter house, gym, grill, wheelchair-accessible swing, and playground.

                Ashville

Ashville itself is seeing great investment in the community, and Ashville Community Park is a great public square. The park features a shelter house, baseball field, walking trail, and playground. The shelter house is frequently used to host festivals and music shows.

In addition, the Ashville Area Heritage Society recently built the Charles W. Morrison Museum Complex outside of the Small Town Museum! This great space will be used for events, including this year’s Christmas Tree lighting!

                London

London is home to one of the most accessible parks on our list. This is certainly a park that we think is worth the drive to come see. Cowling Park’s playground has comprehensive, accessible equipment. It features a community pool, five sensory learning walls, adaptive swings, and a gazebo and shelter house.

Over the last several years, our communities have really invested in our public parks, and we could not be more grateful! Thank you to everyone working to make our parks more beautiful, accessible, and fun. Which park will you visit this weekend?
